Okay, were do I start with my latest review, OMG. I seem to be getting sent Bangers on a weekly basis. what is going on in 2022. You wait ages for a decent track and like London buses, several come along at once.

So "Love on our side" is Tim Prottey-Jones' latest track and what a corker it is. Having listened to Emily Faye's new track last week that Tim produced, I was hoping that he had given himself the same level of attention to his own song and boy he did.
Love on our side is a love story and a modern take on the classic Romeo and Juliet story that we all know. The track was co-written with Grammy nominee Jeff Cohen & Nashville artist Ryan Kinder.
So the song opens with a big modern Country splash with drums, guitars and interestingly a vocal harmony hook that you will hear more of later in the song. With details like that harm hook, so early on in the track, you can see that these guys know all the little tricks of the Nashville trade. As they say in Nashville "Dont bore us, get to the chorus", well Tim and Co have already given you an ear worm inside 5 seconds!!!
Resonator guitar is also present right at the get-go, just tucked under the main instruments, just letting the listener know that this is going to be a Pop-Country track. At 43 seconds in, (so no hanging about) we are treated to the chorus, "Like Romeo and Juliet, you can be my Capulet" and its a big chorus, full of layers and harms.
The 2nd verse , like the 1st verse has a lot of repetition, again another Nashville songwriters go to. But this time a double length verse. A gorgeous guitar solo follows the 2nd chorus and then an interesting breakdown section, when most of the instrumental is removed, leaving a minimal arrangement of percussive sounds, Tim's vocal has also been mixed like he's talking down a telephone, so gives another layer and sound for your ears to tune into.
Then we are into the 3rd and last chorus where its all popping off and we are treated to the full works. This track just keeps on giving, layer after layer, even the outro is an interesting long fade out, which is not something you don't hear everyday.
As a song, this works on so many levels and we love it. Tim's voice is up there with the best of them and he delivers a really strong performance too. It has to be said that, a great song is one thing, great production is another and yet the guy with his name on the record has to produce too and he does, great job Tim.
Love on our side is out May 27th, you can stream or pre-order here.
